Non-Wilderness Responder / Operational |
I Will Be Searching In Non-Wilderness AreasThanks for your interest in becoming a SAR responder. If you want to be a searcher, and you are comfortable in built up urban/suburban/rural areas, and local parks where pavement is never too far away and there is probably a 24 hour gas station near by, then this for you. Your possible assignments as a non-wilderness responder include neighborhood canvassing, posting flyers, grid searching in local parks, and treating missing persons or team members that might be injured. Non-Wilderness Responder / Operational Level / SARTECH III There are 4 levels of certification recognized in SAR. They are Awareness, Operational, Technician, Supervision. The Non-Wilderness Responder is the lowest level operational certification. It prepares you for assisting in community searches. It does not prepare you to do things like searching in wilderness areas or hanging off ropes, or transporting victims in litters. NASAR refers to this level of certification as SARTECH III.
